What is truth or dare?
It’s the classic party game: whoever’s turn it is picks truth (answer a question honestly) or dare (do what they’re asked). It’s often played with spin the bottle, and in other countries it’s called «verdad o reto» or «verdade ou desafio».
Here you play truth or dare online with a spinning bottle and over 400 hand-written truth questions and dares in five categories: kids, friends, family, party and couples. All family-friendly.
How to play
- Type the names and choose a category. The names sit around the table.
- Spin the bottle. The neck points at who answers and the bottom at who asks: that person reads the card out loud.
- Pick truth or dare and the card appears. Don’t like it? Ask for another.
- Do it or pass. Whoever passes pays a forfeit the group decides, or answers an extra truth. The score keeps count.
Truth question examples
- For friends: What is the biggest lie you have ever told your parents?
- For friends: What secret have you never told anyone here?
- For couples: What was the first thing you liked about me?
- For couples: Where do you see us in ten years?
- For parties: What is the most embarrassing thing that has happened to you at a party?
- For families: What prank did you pull as a kid that nobody ever found out about?
- For kids: If you were invisible for a day, what would you do?
Dare examples
- Speak with a foreign accent until your next turn.
- Show the last photo in your camera roll.
- Imitate someone in the group until they guess who.
- Dance with no music for 30 seconds.
- Write a mini love poem and read it to your partner.
- Act like an animal until someone guesses which one (for kids).
The dares are made for playing at home or over text: nothing dangerous, nothing that costs money and nothing that bothers strangers.
Frequently asked questions
How do you play truth or dare online?
Type the players’ names, choose a category and press “Spin the bottle”. Whoever the neck of the bottle points at picks truth or dare, and the card gives them the question or the dare. The person at the other end of the bottle is the one who asks.
Are there truth or dare questions for couples?
Yes, the “Couples” category has 40 truths and 40 romantic dares: memories, plans, little gestures and declarations. They’re for laughing and getting to know each other better, nothing spicy.
Can you play truth or dare over text?
Yes. Every card has a button to send or copy it, so you can play at a distance: spin, copy the question and send it to whoever’s turn it is. Many dares work over a video call or with a photo.
Is it suitable for kids?
Yes. There is a “Kids” category with simple questions and dares (animal impressions, singing, jokes…), and the other categories have no adult content either.
Can I add my own questions?
Yes. Under “Your questions”, write your own and choose truth or dare. They mix with the category’s or, if you tick “Use only mine”, only yours come up. They’re saved in your browser.
What if someone doesn’t want to answer?
They can tap “Pass”. Usually they pay a forfeit the group decides, or answer an extra truth. The score counts the dares done and the passes for each player.
Do the questions repeat?
Not until every card in that category has come up: the site remembers which ones you’ve had and reshuffles them when they run out.
Is spin the bottle the same as truth or dare?
Spin the bottle is the classic way to choose who plays truth or dare: the bottle picks the player and the player picks truth or dare. Here you get both in one: the bottle and the cards.
